Guests Name: William was travelling as Same sex couple
Good stuff: I can't think of anything good about this hotel - shockingly bad and very poor value for money
Bad stuff: Dirty premises in a stinking scruffy, down-at-heel area. There is no lift and the staircase to the room is very steep indeed - difficult when carrying suitcases.
The room was very badly in need of refurbishment, several lights didn't work, there were water stains on the ceiling, tiles missing in the tiny bathroom that strongly smelled of damp, walls repaired with bare plywood that didn't match the remainder of the badly stained walls and only a single curtain that did not cover the window, which was hanging off it's hinges. I didn't want to touch anything. After seeing the room, we went searching for an alternative and eventually found one a short distance away. I returned to Manovo and spoke to the Chinese owner who insisted on charging us for two nights due to, "late cancellation" and when I listed my complaints about the room, just shrugged and said "that's what you expect when you book a one star hotel".
The location of the hotel is in a filthy, very noisy main street frequented by drug addicts, beggars and drunks. I was spat on immediately outside the hotel by a beggar demanding cigarettes.
Overall: Terrible. I would advise travelers to use an alternative such as the RHO hotel where we eventually stayed - similar price and far superior location, room and service.
Guests Name: James was travelling as Group of adult friends
Good stuff: The central location of the hotel. The helpful and friendly staff. The clean rooms. The low price of the room, value for money.
Bad stuff: The room that we stayed in was in need of some minor decoration, and some lamps didn't work, also there is a lot of stairs in this building, but you would naturally expect it.
Overall: The online booking and check in is good. The central location of this hotel is excellent. The rooms were cleaned too a good standard daily. The staff on the desk was always helpful and polite. My overall opinion of this hotel is its great value for money. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants somewhere to stay on a visit to Amsterdam.
